Quarter-Turn Pneumatic Actuator
The quarter-turn pneumatic actuator converts air pressure into angular displacement via rack & pinion, yoke or vane. It has double/single acting types, features wide torque range and easy connection, and is applied in power, metallurgy, etc.
Pneumatic actuators are classified by control mode into: on-off type and control type.
On-Off Type
Control Type
- On-off pneumatic actuators: The valve opens or closes when the solenoid valve is powered, and closes or opens when power is cut (explosion-proof types available).
- Control pneumatic actuators: Equipped with an electropneumatic valve positioner, they regulate the medium flow of the valve based on the magnitude of the current signal (standard 4-20mA) (explosion-proof types available).
- Pneumatic actuators are divided into single-acting and double-acting types.
- Double-acting pneumatic actuators: Normally closed (air-to-open, ATO), normally open (air-to-close, ATC).
- Single-acting pneumatic actuators: Normally closed (ATO), normally open (ATC).
Single-Acting Cylinder
Working principle: Single-acting cylinders feature spring return. The valve is initially closed (commonly called "air-to-open"). When air is supplied, the valve opens; if air supply is interrupted, the spring return function automatically resets and closes the valve. Typically used for corrosive liquid media or harmful gases, i.e., media that cannot leak.
Double-Acting Cylinder
Working principle: The valve requires air supply for both opening and closing. Commonly used in applications with low leakage requirements.
